It is an open ended large cap fund by HDFC Mutual Fund. Asset size of the fund is Rs 69.25 Cr (30 Sep 2011). Fund started on 10 July 2002. Rs 5000 is the minimum investment. Nifty gave a negative return of 51% in the year. Fund also gave a negative return of 47.7% in that period. 2009 was a terrific year for Indian capital markets. Nifty gave 75% return in the year. Fund gave a return of 77.5% in that period. Fund gave 18.6% and 6.4% annualized return in the last three and five years respectively.

Infosys, Reliance Industries, ITC, Housing Development Finance Corporation, ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro,, Tata Consultancy Services, State Bank of India, Bharti Airtel, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, Hindustan Unilever, Federal Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra are the top holdings of the fund. Banking/Finance, Technology and Oil & Gas are the main sectors preferred by the fund. 97.16% of amount is invested in equities. 52 week high and low of NAV is Rs 246.15 and Rs 193.36 respectively. NAV of the fund closed at Rs 193.36 (19 December 2011).

Religare Equity Fund

It is an open ended tax saver fund by Religare Mutual Fund. Asset size of the fund is Rs 19.36 Cr (30 Sep 2011). Fund started on 7 September 2007. Rs 5000 is the minimum investment. Vetri Subramaniam is the fund manager. Fund’s one year return is (-18.9) %. Nifty’s one year return is (-22.4) %. 2008 was a hazardous year for global stock markets. Nifty gave a negative return of 51% in the year. Fund also gave a negative return of 49.6% in that period. 2009 was a brilliant year for Indian capital markets. Nifty gave 75% return in the year. Fund gave a return of 68.3% in that period. Fund gave 16.1% annualized return in the last three years.

Hindustan Unilever, Bharti Airtel, ITC, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, Max India, ICICI Bank, Idea Cellular, Dr Reddys Laboratories, State Bank of India, Bajaj Corp, Yes Bank, Apollo Hospitals Enterprises and Mundra Port & Special Economic Zone are the top holdings of the fund. Banking/Finance, Oil & Gas and Consumer Durables are the main sectors preferred by the fund. 70.74% of amount is invested in equities. 52 week high and low of NAV is Rs 13.61 and Rs 10.67 respectively. NAV of the fund closed at Rs 10.67 (19 December 2011).
